350 Baskets of Hope Delivered: A Community United in Gratitude
On Saturday, November 22, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, Sunflowers for Sallie brought together an extraordinary group of change-makers to assemble and deliver 350 Baskets of Hope to families across our community.
What began as a vision to serve has grown into a powerful movement of compassion and collaboration.
This year, we proudly partnered with 11 local schools, the Department of Aging, three churches, and several community organizations that work daily to empower families and individuals to thrive. These partnerships continue to strengthen our reach and deepen our impact.
We hosted our assembly event at Ruth Parker Eason School, and the outpouring of support was truly overwhelming. Volunteers filled not only the gymnasium, but also three additional classrooms as we organized and prepared baskets for distribution. The energy in those rooms was filled with purpose, generosity, and gratitude.
This initiative is about more than providing a Thanksgiving meal, said Rita Williams-Ellingwood/Founder. βIt is about restoring hope, strengthening community bonds, and reminding families that they are seen, valued, and supported.β
We are deeply grateful to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, and supporter who contributed β whether through time, resources, or encouragement. Every act of kindness mattered. Every effort helped us reach 350 families who will now experience a brighter Thanksgiving.
Together, we are building more than baskets. We are building hope.
