Spring is coming, and before you know it, Easter will be here. What a lovely time of year to sow the seeds of love and watch them blossom into beautiful sunflowers!
Yesterday, I was privileged to tour Ruth Parker Eason School, located in Millersville, Maryland. Sunflowers for Sallie has donated Giant gift cards to families whose children go there, and with them, they’ll be buying all they need for magnificent Easter dinners. Along with each gift card, we gave a pouch of sunflower seeds from Sallie’s garden so that they may have sunflowers both in their hearts and in their gardens.
This school provides stellar, individualized education for disabled students between the ages of three and twenty-one. The students study a wide spectrum of subjects from math to science to art, music, English, and history. The caring staff of this school are dedicated to helping each student achieve as much independence as possible so that they may chase their dreams. Life skills are integral components of the instruction provided there, and older students have access to vocational training opportunities throughout the community.
I am delighted and honored to have been able to help make the lives of these students and their loved ones better. Putting smiles on the faces of those around us is a pleasure that cannot be purchased, quantified, or over-valued, and in these tough times, we all need a kind word, sometimes a helping hand, and a sunflower of love. My heartfelt thanks go out to all who helped to make this possible. Every act of kindness plants a seed of love and helps to grow memories that will last a lifetime.
