Over 700,000 Marylanders, or more than 1 in 10 households, live in poverty and face food insecurity. Sunflowers for Sallie’s mission aims to make a difference in the community by feeding their neighbors in need through its various initiatives designed to provide nutritious food for impoverished families.

“My passion has always been to give back and continue to be a positive figure in the community” says Founder Rita Williams Ellinwood. “In 2021, I branched out and founded Sunflowers for Sallie to try and positively impact the community in a meaningful way. With our new 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, we will be able to attract even more donated products and services from our local and national donors while serving even more residents and families.”
