Baskets of Hope - 2025
350 Baskets of Hope Delivered: A Community United in Gratitude for Thanksgiving
On Saturday, November 22, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, Sunflowers for Sallie brought together an extraordinary group of change-makers to assemble and deliver 350 Baskets of Hope to families across our community.
What began as a vision to serve has grown into a powerful movement of compassion and collaboration.
This year, we proudly partnered with 11 local schools, the Department of Aging, three churches, and several community organizations that work daily to empower families and individuals to thrive. These partnerships continue to strengthen our reach and deepen our impact.
We hosted our assembly event at Ruth Parker Eason School, and the outpouring of support was truly overwhelming. Volunteers filled not only the gymnasium, but also three additional classrooms as we organized and prepared baskets for distribution. The energy in those rooms was filled with purpose, generosity, and gratitude.
This initiative is about more than providing a Thanksgiving meal, said Rita Williams-Ellingwood/Founder. “It is about restoring hope, strengthening community bonds, and reminding families that they are seen, valued, and supported.”
We are deeply grateful to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, and supporter who contributed — whether through time, resources, or encouragement. Every act of kindness mattered. Every effort helped us reach 350 families who will now experience a brighter Thanksgiving.
Together, we are building more than baskets. We are building hope.
Sunflowers for Sallie Hosts Second Annual Christmas Baskets of Hope
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, Sunflowers for Sallie proudly hosted its Second Annual Christmas Baskets of Hope event at Lansdowne Elementary School, radiating love, generosity, and kindness throughout our community.
With the support of dedicated volunteers and community partners, we assembled and distributed 100 Christmas Baskets of Hope to families connected to four local schools:
- Lansdowne Elementary School
- Lansdowne High School
- Halethorpe Elementary School
- Lansdowne Middle School
Each basket represented more than holiday essentials — it symbolized care, dignity, and the power of community coming together to uplift one another during the Christmas season.
We are profoundly grateful to everyone who volunteered their time, donated resources, assembled baskets, and assisted with distribution. Your compassion and commitment embody the true spirit of generosity and service.
As we continue this important work, we remain committed to planting seeds of hope — believing that every act of kindness has the power to inspire another. Together, we are not only meeting immediate needs but cultivating a culture of compassion that continues to grow throughout our community.
